How My Apple Watch Saved My Life and I Never Leave Home Without It
To all the Luddites out there, please take two minutes to read this true story. It may just save your life.
I know some of you are anti-big brother and, in particular, how technology tracks our every move. However, we need to accept that our day-to-day activities are no longer private like we used to enjoy.
Yes, you can limit what you share to some extent, and so you should, but when it comes to a simple watch that can save your life, I will forgo privacy any day of the week.
My story
I was out with a work colleague at a restaurant one Thursday evening; the restaurant was on the first floor and had a steep staircase for access and egress. As we finished dinner, I was not holding onto the handrail on the way down the stairs, nor was my friend.
Somehow we lost our footing, and both rolled down the stairs; I must have hit my head and, at this point, and may have suffered a slight concussion. We brushed ourselves off and laughed; my friend would somehow develop two black eyes, and we exited the venue.
As my friend lived opposite, she asked if I could walk the four or so kilometres home, and I said I was fine as I wanted to keep my step count up.
